In 2008, our first two Alumni were selected to represent Canada at the U17 CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying Tournament.
In 2009, one Academy Alumnus was selected to train at a professional Academy in Switzerland and three Academy Alumni were selected to represent Dominica and Guyana respectively in the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying tournaments for U20. These players will now graduate on to the Senior National Teams for the 2011 Womens's World Cup Qualifying tournament.
In 2010, RDA in partnership with Riverside Canada (RCA) , have secured opportunities for Canadian players, male and female, to begin attending Clubs and Academies in Europe for a full year as opposed to the traditional 10 day visits that are being offered by other organizations.
In 2011, RDA has sent Canadian players to France, Italy and Switzerland as part of our ongoing Europe 2011 project. For female players, this represents the first real efforts to send female players to play professionally in Europe and the demand from European clubs is getting stronger.
Players will attend school (where applicable), train and play in leagues while being scouted by Professional Clubs and Coaches from all over Europe (where applicable) or be offered a professional contract to play in a top league in Europe.
RDA has secured a working relationship with France, Italy and Switzerland to allow talented Canadian players a chance to attain the highest levels in the sport, something that is only offered on a very limited scale as part of the existing landscape in Ontario.
While other programs offered only involve a 7-10 day trial or 2 week tour, RDA is offering Canadian players the opportunity to stay, go to school, train, play and be scouted on a regular basis over the course of a full year in Europe.
