RDA ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS 2007:

 

 

Academy Alumni Selected to Ontario Provincial Roster!

 

Academy Alumni Nicole W., a member of the Oakville Titans 1994 team, Madsion S., a member of the Erin Mills 1991 A team, Vicki C-P., a member of the Newmarket 1992 A team and Ashlee S., a member of the Dixie 1991 team, were selected to the 2007-08 Ontario Provincial training roster for the indoor training season.

 

All of the Academy staff, alumni and current trainees are extremely proud to wish Nicole, Madsion, Vicki and Ashlee continued success on the road to making the Ontario Provincial Team.

 

Academy Alumni Shine At ROPSAA Championship!

 

Academy Alumni representing their individual schools, had a productive day at the annual ROPSAA Cross Country Championships for Junior Girls held in Mississauga on October 26 2007.

 

Alumni Arielle D. placed 12^th, Claire S. placed 19^th, Arielle P. placed 40^th and Sylvie F. placed 59^th out of a field of 150.

 

Congratulations to all the athletes on an excellent showing in the ROPSAA Cross Country Championships for 2007.

 

Academy Alumni Shine At ROPSAA Championship!

 

Academy Alumni representing their individual schools, had a productive day at the annual ROPSAA Cross Country Championships for Midget Girls held in Mississauga on October 26 2007.

 

Alumni Jocelyn P. and Emily D. finished in second and fifth place respectively and qualified for the OFSAA Championship in Niagara Falls in November. Alumni Rachel S. placed 12^th, Elysia P. placed 38^th, Ashley S. placed 71^st and Chelsea L. placed in 100^th place out of a field of 131.

 

Congratulations to all the athletes on an excellent showing in the ROPSAA Cross Country Championships for 2007.

 

Academy Alumnus Win League Championship!

 

Academy Alumnus Vicky C-P., a member of the Dixie Gladiators 1992 team, won the 2007 SRSL League Championship, edging out Niagara Falls, Ancaster and Brams United for the title. The Gladiators, as SRSL League Champions, have automatically qualified for the 2007 OYSL Qualification Tournament as they attempt to win a place in the OYSL in 2008.

Academy Alumnus Win Premier Division Championship!

 

Academy Alumnus Natalie D., a member of the Mississauga Falcons 1991 team, won the SRSL Premier Division League Championship for 2007. The Falcons have now qualified for the SRSL Elite Division for 2008.

 

Congratulations to Natalie: 2007 SRSL Premier Division League Champions.

 

Academy Alumnus Finalist In Ontario Cup!

 

Academy Alumnus Nicole W., a member of the Oakville Titans 1994 team, finished as runners-up in the Ontario Cup Championship in the Girls U-13 division for 2007, losing a close contest to the York United Newmarket Lasers in overtime.

 

The tournament, played over the last 2 months, saw the Titans team win their first round group in Saltfleet, defeat the Pickering Power Pythons in the Quarter-finals 2-1 and beat the Clarkson Comets 1-0 to advance to the final. 

 

Congratulations to Nicole and the entire Titans team for an excellent 2007 Ontario Cup run.

 

Academy Alumnus Win League Championship!

 

Academy Alumnus Nicole W., a member of the Oakville Titans 1994 team, won the 2007 SRSL League Championship, edging out Brams United for the title. The Titans have automatically qualified for the OYSL in 2008 as SRSL League Champions.

 

Congratulations to Nicole: 2007 SRSL League Champions.

 

Academy Alumni Repeat As Champions At The Kickin' In The Capital Tournament In Ottawa!

 

Academy Alumni Rachel S. and Shannon J., both members of the North Mississauga Panthers 1993 B Team, won the Championship at the 2007 Kickin' in the Capital Tournament for Girls, hosted by the Ottawa Royals Soccer club, defeating OSU in the final 3-0.

 

In the preliminary round, the Panthers defeated Gloucester, Ottawa South United (OSU) and Glengarry all by identical 1-0 scores. In the semi-final round, the Panthers played the host Ottawa Royals team for the second straight year and advanced to the final with another 1-0 win. In the final the Panthers faced OSU in a rematch and prevailed to successfully defend their championship.

 

Congratulations to Rachel, Shannon, the Panthers players and coaches on becoming Kickin' in the Capital Tournament Champions for 2007.

 

Academy Alumni Champions In North Mississauga!

 

The Academy trained Erin Mills 1992 Select team, featuring Academy Alumni Lindsay F., Arielle P., Basia C., Kristin K. and Catriona M., and coached by Academy Trainer Noel Fenech.,  won the championship at the North Mississauga All-Star Tournament in the Girls U-15 division for 2007, defeating Waterloo the final by a score of 2-0.

 

In the round-robin, the Eagles defeated Georgetown, Brams United and North Mississauga and lost a close game to Waterloo. By virtue of there record, the Eagles advanced to the final for a rematch against Waterloo.

 

Congratulations to Noel, Lindsay, Arielle, Basia, Kristen, Catriona and the rest of the Eagles players and coaches on becoming champions at the 2007 North Mississauga All-Star Tournament.

 

Academy Alumnus Win League Cup Championship!

 

Academy Alumnus Nicole W., a member of the Oakville Titans 1994 team, won the 2007 SRSL Elite Division League Cup Championship after defeating the Brams United Bullets in the Cup final 2-1.

Academy Alumni Finalists At The Gloucester Invitational!

 

The Erin Mills 1993 C team whose players all trained with the Academy over the winter and featuring Academy Alumni Emma P., Evelyn E., Vanessa O., Danya T. and Lauren B., finished as runners-up in the 2007 Gloucester Invitational Tournament, losing a close final on penalty kicks to Spatial St. Hubert from Quebec in the Championship game.

 

In the preliminary round, the Eagles defeated Pointe Claire, Cumberland and tied with the host Gloucester Hornets to advance to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals Erin Mills defeated the Kanata Lightning to advance to the finals against Spatial St. Hubert from Quebec. After a tense game that went to double overtime, the Eagles lost on penalty kicks by a score of 1-0.

 

Congratulations to the Erin Mills players and coaches for an excellent showing at the 2007 GIST.

 

Academy Alumni Win Belleville Comets Invitational!

 

Academy Alumni Nadia M. and Misha S., both members of the North Mississauga Panthers 1991 Team, won the Championship at the 2007 Belleville Comets Invitational Tournament defeating Oshawa in the final.

 

In the preliminary round, the Panthers defeated Belleville, Whitby and West Carleton. In the semi-final round, the Panthers defeated Hamilton Sparta to advance to the final.

 

Congratulations to Nadia, Misha, the Panthers players and coaches on becoming champions at the 2007 Belleville Comets Invitational Tournament.

 

 

Academy Alumnus Wins Snakebite Championship!

 

Academy Alumnus Christina G., a member of the Georgetown Mustangs 1995 team, won the 2007 Cumberland Cobras Snakebite Tournament Championship, defeating the Dynamo de Hull team from Quebec in the Championship game.

 

In the preliminary round, the Mustangs defeated Kemptville, Cataraqui and tied with Dynamo de Hull to advance to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals Georgetown defeated the Gloucester Hornets to advance to the finals for a rematch with Dynamo de Hull.

 

Congratulations to Christina and the rest of the Georgetown players and coaches on becoming Cumberland Cobras Snakebite Champions for 2007.

 

Academy Alumnus Graduates With Honours!

 

The Red Devils Academyis pleased to announce that Academy Alumni Danielle A., a student at St.John Bosco Catholic School, graduated with honors at the annual Grade 8 Graduation ceremonies held on June 27 2007.

 

Danielle was the honoured recipient of the prestigious Class Valedictorian Award as well as the Female Athlete of the Year Award, having competed on the Basketball, Volleyball, Cross Country and Soccer teams over the course of the school year.

 

The Academy Staff wish Danielle continued success in her high school career that begins in the fall.

 

Academy Alumni Graduate With Honours!

 

The Red Devils Academyis pleased to announce that Academy Alumni Jacqueline L., a student at St.BarbaraElementary School, Rachel S., a student at St. Simon Stock Elementary School, Elysia P., a student at W. G. Davis Senior Public School, Nadia M., a student at Roberta Bondar Public School and Lindsay F., a student at Our Lady of Good Voyage, graduated with honors at their respective annual Grade 8 Graduation ceremonies held from June 25- 28 2007.

 

Jacqueline, Rachel, Elysia, Nadia and Lindsay were all honoured recipients of the prestigious Female Athlete of the Year Award, having competed on the Basketball, Volleyball, Cross Country and Soccer teams over the course of the school year.

 

The Academy Staff wish Jacqueline, Rachel, Elysia, Nadia and Lindsay continued success in their high school careers that begins in the fall.

 

Academy Alumnus Wins ROPSSAA Championship!

 

Academy Alumnus Amanda T., a member of the North Mississauga Panthers G92 A team, captured the ROPSSAA Level AAAA Championship representing the Mount Carmel Crusaders high school team for 2007, after defeating St. Thomas Aquinas S.S. in the final.

 

Congratulations to Amanda who will now go on to represent Mount Carmel at the OFSAA AAAA Championships in Woodbridge in June 2007.

 

Academy Alumnus Wins TDSSAA Championship!

 

Academy Alumnus Andrea E., a member of the North Mississauga Panthers G92 A team, captured the TDSSAA Level AAA Championship representing the Martingrove Collegiate high school team for 2007, after defeating Leaside Collegiate in the final.

 

Congratulations to Andrea who will now go on to represent Martingrove at the OFSAA AAA Championships in Chatham in June 2007.

 

Academy Alumni Semi-Finalist In ROPSSAA Championship!

 

Academy Alumni Megan O., a member of the North Mississauga Panthers G92 A team, and Vicky C-P., a member of the Toronto Jr. Lynx team, representing the St. Martin Mustangs high school team finished as semi-finalists in the ROPSSAA Level AAAA Championship for 2007, after losing to the eventual champions Mount Carmel.

 

Congratulations to Megan and Vicky who represented their school with distinction.

 

Academy Alumnus Wins Barrie Spiritfest Championship!

 

Academy Alumnus Alicia L., a member of the Brams United Flames 1992 team, won the 2007 Barrie Spiritfest Championship, defeating the host Barrie Spirit in the Championship game.

 

In the preliminary round, the Flames defeated Collingwood, Byron and North Toronto to advance to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals Brams United defeated the Oakville Cobras to advance to finals against Barrie.

 

Congratulations to Alicia and the rest of the Brams United players and coaches on becoming Barrie Spiritfest Champions for 2007.

 

Academy Alumnus Wins The COVI!

 

Academy Alumni Danielle A., a member of the Vaughan Vipers 1993 team, captured the COVI Championship in the Girls U-14 division for 2007, defeating East Gwillimbury in the final.

 

In the preliminary round, the Panthers defeated Aurora, Glen Shields and tied East Gwillimbury to advance to the semi-finals. In the semis, the Panthers defeated their sister team the Vaughan AC Vipers 93 to set the up a rematch with East Gwillimbury.

 

Congratulations to Danielle and the rest of the Viper players and coaches on becoming the COVI Champions for 2007.

 

Academy Alumnus Finalists At The MIT!

 

Academy Alumni Jacqueline L., a member of the North Mississauga Panthers 1993 A team, finished as runners-up in the 2007 MIT, losing a close final to West Rouge. The Panthers player at a higher age group for the tournament.

 

In the preliminary round, the Panthers defeated Etobicoke, Barrie and tied the West Rouge Storm to advance to the semi-finals. In the semis, the Panthers defeated the Erin Mills G93 to set the up the rematch with West Rouge.

 

Congratulations to Jacqueline and the rest of the Panther players and coaches for an excellent showing in the 2007 MIT.

In the preliminary round, the Panthers defeated the host Mississauga Falcons, Saltfleet and Georgetown to advance to the semi-finals. In the semis, the Panthers defeated Burlington to set the up the showdown with Lac St. Louis.

Academy Alumni Nicole W., a member of the Oakville Titans 1994 A team, finished as runners-up in the 2007 MIT, losing a close final to Newmarket.

 

In the preliminary round, the Titans defeated Oshawa and tied with London to advance to the quarter-finals, where they defeated Clarkson to advance to the semi-finals. In the semi-final, the Titans defeated the North York Hearts to set the up the final against the Lasers.

Academy Alumnus Wins WNIT Championship!

 

Academy Alumnus Fatma R., a member of the Woodbridge Strikers 1995 team, won the 2007 WNIT Championship, defeating Waterloo in the Championship game.

 

In the preliminary round, the Strikers defeated Orangeville and York United and lost to Georgetown to advance to the quarter-finals. In the quarter and semi-finals Woodbridge defeated Toronto and Richmond Hill to advance to finals against Waterloo.

 

Congratulations to Fatma and the rest of the Woodbridge players and coaches on becoming the WNIT Champions for 2007.

 

Academy Alumnus Wins OISL Title!

 

Academy Alumnus Emily D., a member of the Dixie Dragons 1993 team, won the 2006-07 OISL Provincial Indoor League Championship in the U15 Division, after completing an unbeaten season with 14 wins and 2 ties. The Dixie team played at a higher age group for the indoor season.

 

Congratulations to Emily and the rest of the Dixie players and coaches for an amazing achievement; OISL Provincial Champions for 2006-07.

 

Academy Alumni Selected for OSA Region 2 Team!

 

The Academy is extremely proud to announce that Academy Alumnus Nicole W. is moving forward in the ID selection process for the Provincial Team. Nicole, a member of the Oakville Titans 1994 team, has been selected to the OSA Region 2 team after tryouts were concluded recently.

 

Nicole has been training at the Academy since 2004 and has worked extremely hard to reach her current level of success.

 

All of the Academy staff, alumni and current trainees are extremely proud to wish Nicole continued success on the road to making the Ontario Provincial Team.
